Turkmen Leader Arrives in Tokyo for Central Asia + Japan Summit

Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a working trip to Japan to participate in the inaugural summit of the Central Asia + Japan dialogue platform. The information was published by TDH news agency. The presidential aircraft landed at Tokyo's Haneda Airport. The Turkmen leader was met by Japanese representatives with official honors. This marks the second visit by the Turkmen head of state to the Land of the Rising Sun in 2025. The previous trip took place in April, when he attended the celebration of Turkmenistan's National Day during the World Expo 2025 in Osaka. Turkmenistan's pavilion became the first to open at the exhibition and attracted a large flow of visitors. Bilateral relations between the countries are built on the foundation of mutual respect and equal partnership. Cooperation with major Japanese corporations Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, Itochu, and Sojitz has enabled the implementation of several large-scale industrial projects in Turkmenistan. These include a plant producing environmentally friendly synthetic fuel from gas in Ovadandepe, a polymer production facility in Kiyanly, and a urea plant in Garabogaz. In the field of education and culture, the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University operates in the Turkmen capital, following the Japanese educational model. The Japanese language is included in curricula at educational institutions throughout Turkmenistan, and Turkmen youth have opportunities to train at Japanese universities.
