Official news
Turkish diplomat Ahmet Demirok, heading the embassy in Ashgabat, stated at a press conference about the need to intensify joint efforts between Turkey and Turkmenistan to expand multimodal transport capabilities within the Trans-Caspian Corridor both on a bilateral basis and in a format involving Azerbaijan. "I would like to draw attention to a number of issues related to our transport agenda. As we see, the Trans-Caspian transport route (Middle Corridor) has proven itself as a reliable and convenient route. We are pleased to observe the growing attention to this corridor from the United States and the European Union recently," the Turkish diplomatic representative commented. The diplomat emphasized the strategic importance of Turkmenistan as a transit route for Turkish goods to Central Asian markets, as well as Turkey's key role for Turkmen transportation in the European direction. "In this regard, we are convinced that to increase the effectiveness of the Middle Corridor, it is necessary to accelerate our initiatives to develop multimodal transportation both in bilateral format and trilateral format with Azerbaijan's participation, as well as to simplify and expedite procedures," Demirok added. The ambassador gave high praise to Turkmenistan's actions in developing its transport and logistics system. The Turkish representative also emphasized his country's constant readiness for partnership with the Turkmen side in developing transport and port infrastructure in the Caspian region.
