The regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states took place in Tehran on January 27, with the participation of Turkmenistan's Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ilyas Gayyipov.
During the session, participants reviewed the progress in implementing the tasks outlined in the Avaza Action Programme for 2024-2034. Particular attention was given to the project for implementing the Programme's third priority area — "Transit, Transport and Transport Connectivity in the ECO Region." The Council approved this proposal and supported the organization of meetings for its practical implementation.
Turkmenistan's Permanent Representative to ECO, I. Gayyipov, expressed gratitude to the Organization's Secretariat and representatives of member states for supporting the initiative, emphasizing confidence in active cooperation among all stakeholders during its implementation phase.
It is worth noting that at the initiative of the Turkmen side, the third priority area "Transit, Transport and Transport Connectivity" was incorporated into the draft ECO document "Strategic Goals of Economic Cooperation — 2035," the adoption of which is expected in the near future. This was reported on the official website of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Iran.
